A Memorable Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day! Continuing our seacoast journey, we have paused for a bit in a Florida marina for the weekend, just relaxing and taking some time to breathe. Tomorrow we will haul anchor and head out again to parts unknown. This sense of freedom is extraordinary. 

Speaking of freedom, that is exactly what our ancestors fought so ardently for. I dedicate this post to my father (a WWII veteran and Pearl Harbor Survivor) who witnessed the loss of so many on that fateful day. He loved this country. His parents were both immigrants, as was my mother. That is what makes America so great--we are rich in culture and diversity. 

Our holiday weekend is really a tribute to those who fought and died for our freedom. May we be a better country as we navigate the currents of today's treacherous waters. May we once again live up to the ideals of our forefathers and each support one another with kindness, compassion and a common desire for peace and prosperity for all. I think we are capable of that.
